While I occasionally will second for friends photographing weddings, I haven't taken on my own wedding clients in several years. This is primarily because wedding photography is a marathon, unpredictable in terms of what you're working with for light and location, and incredibly high pressure. There's usually a tight timeline, and you get one (to five) shots to document multiple (hopefully) once in a lifetime moments. It's not the ideal activity for a neurodivergent person with a limited social battery and anxiety. Don't get me wrong, it's also creatively fun and exciting but the stakes are really high!
Cassie & Miriam were referred through a mutual acquaintance, and when I heard the details I was in.
They were having an intimate backyard wedding with only family in attendance. They wanted a few hours of photographic coverage. Miriam had family flying in from Norway for the special day. We corresponded a bit and it was a great fit.
Cassie & Miriam are not only caring and generous hosts, they also were very coachable and flexible in terms of their schedule and itinerary. I'm so glad they agreed to do a first look.
Then they popped some champagne before we took a few intimate portraits.
Everyone was ready for the ceremony!
After being walked down the aisle by family, their ceremony included heartfelt vows, exchanging rings, and a sand mixing ritual with Cassie, Miriam, and their two boys.
Coincidentally, New Haven Pride was happening the day after their wedding, so they stopped by my photobooth and we ran out for a few pictures between the rain showers.
I am so honored to have been part of Miriam & Cassie's story and special day. They even have me rethinking my hesitancy around photographing weddings.
SO here is a questionnaire for anyone who is interested in discussing wedding or elopement photography. I'd love to see if we are a fit!
